Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United American. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for reforms to healthcare and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal as well as the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile due to her sharp examination of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of assault on a woman.
