Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. By February 2020, she had signed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was second of the family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's youth. Sometimes, the family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was struggling at school and discovered later she was dyslexic. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic primary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
